2166-ben a halhatatlan gonosz Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) már csak néhány lépésnyire van attól, hogy megvalósítsa végső célját: a totális káoszt, ami aztán az emberiség kipusztulásához vezet. Az összeomlás előtt az Időmester Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) úgy dönt: 150 évet visszautazik időben és egy csapatnyi válogatott hőst és antihőst összegyűjtve szembeszáll Vandallal. Hunter csapata első (és második) ránézésre is furcsa: a milliárdos feltaláló Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), aki egy exo-ruha segítségével képes atomnyi méretűre zsugorodni, a bérgyilkos Sara Lance alias Fhér Kanári (Caity Lotz), Martin Stein professzor (Victor Garber) és Jefferson "Jax" Jackson (Franz Drameh), akik együttesen alkotják a Tűzvihar nevű metahumánt. A társaság oszlopos tagja a Flash – A Villám című sorozatból ismert Leonard Snart, azaz Fagy Kapitány (Wentworth Miller) és Mick Rory, ismertebb nevén Hőhullám (Dominic Purcell) is. A nem mindennapi csapatot Kendra Saunders – a Sólyomlány, és Carter Hall – a Sólyomember (Falk Hentschel) teszi teljessé. A furcsa társaság ide-oda utazik az időben, hogy keresztbe tegyen Savage terveinek, miközben Hunter nemcsak Időmesterségének próbál eleget tenni, de azt is meg kell akadályoznia, hogy a csapat még véletlenül se írja át a történelmet – ezzel kijavíthatatlan hibát okozva az időben.
