Michael Jenningsre vadásznak, de nem tudja, miért. A világhíres zsenit csúcstechnológiával foglalkozó nagyvállalatok szerződtetik különleges, szupertitkos munkákra, majd a feledat elvégzése után az agyából kitörlik az emlékeit, nehogy elárulhassa a cégek titkait. Munkáját jól megfizetik, a legutóbbi, három éves küldetése után nyolc számjegyű összegre számít, de a munka végeztével a fizetési csekk helyett egy borítékot kap tele különféle tárgyakkal és azt mondják neki: beleegyezett abba, hogy lemond a pénzéről. Mivel emlékeit a szerződése értelmében kitörölték, Jennings nem tud védekezni, míg rá nem jön, hogy a borítékban talált tárgyak a kulcsok a múltjához. Így most Rachel segítségével, aki a munkatársa és szerelme volt az elmúlt három évben, Jennings az idővel versenyt futva próbálja összerakni múltja darabjait mielőtt korábbi munkaadói meg nem öletik.
