Időnként egy fickó kiszalad a kunyhóból az erdőbe - vágás - és egy levágott szörnyfejjel tér vissza, hogy a gyűjteményébe tegye. Egy film azok nélkül a jelenetek nélkül, amelyek a film lényege, fűszere, a nézői vonzereje lettek volna. Ez is jól mutatja, hogy egy filmben mennyire fontos a hangulat. Mert ez az egyetlen dolog, amit az alkotók az adott (nem)költségvetésből megtehettek, és ami sikerült is nekik. Amint megpróbálnak akár csak utalni is a főszereplő szörnyekkel való szembesülésére - és azt az egyetlen egyet részben meg is mutatnak - az már inkább nevetséges. [Sitges FF]

I finally watched The Head Hunter after two years, and although the potential was much greater, it wasn't a complete waste of time. The film has quite decent visuals and only one character, a believable Viking with awesome armor, who hunts goblins and trolls and then hangs their heads at home as trophies. I liked the attention to detail, and even though there isn't much dialogue, the film doesn't get boring, mainly thanks to its appropriate 70-minute running time. The most disappointing thing about the whole film is that it doesn’t show any of the fights with the monsters, which is disgraceful considering the premise. Even though the budget wasn’t big, they could have at least included a fight with bandits or another Viking. At least the ending was very unexpected and uncompromising. Those who enjoy Viking themes or the game “Skyrim” might be satisfied. Story**, Action* Humor>No, Violence**, Entertainment***, Music***, Visuals****, Atmosphere****, Tension***. 6/10.

I think I can safely say that I've never seen anything like this. For a film with hardly any actors or plot to have such a perfect atmosphere, is something that hasn't been seen yet. I can't shake the feeling that even a single action scene would totally ruin the whole film. If I compare the Head Hunter with megalomaniacal blockbusters overflowing with pathos and CGI, this is a total victory of minimalism and quality filmmaking. P.S.: Since there was no attempt at taxidermy, staying in that cabin must have been a real challenge for anyone with any remaining sense of smell.
