1964-et írunk, és négy fiatal liverpooli srác éppen a világot készül megváltani - már ha ez az eszement világ hagyja, hogy kijussanak a hotelszobájukból. Richard Lester vakmerően korhű rock'n'roll vígjátéka beszabadítja a szárnyukat próbálgató gombafejeket a sikoltozó rajongók, paranoiás producerek, vakbuzgó újságírók és bajkeverő családtagok örvényébe. Közben pedig feltárja túlélésük és sikerük titkát: pajkos rosszalkodás iránti kielégíthetetlen vágyukat és életigenlő mókafüggőségüket. A mozi egy áldokumentumfilm majdhogynem valósághű stílusában készült, nyomon követi John, Paul, George és Ringo egy napját, amint viharként rájuk ront a hírnév. Épp most határozták el, hogy életükben először megszegik a szabályokat. Az elkövetkező 24 órában kidobják időbeosztásukat, semmibe veszik kötelezettségeiket és belekóstolnak a szabadságba. Sikoltozó rajongókat kell majd kicselezniük, el kell kerülniük a sajtót, ellen kell szegülniük menedzserüknek és ellenőrzésük alatt kell tartaniuk Paul rögeszmés nagypapáját. Fergeteges epizódos groteszk jó zenével, szimpatikus Beatles-szel, brit humorral és egy vicces öreggel. Fekete-fehér és mégis olyan élénk!

I saw A Hard Day's Night many long years ago and was looking forward to reviving positive memories. It's strange, but whenever I see a music film dedicated to a famous band or singer, I usually approach it with a downward rating against my memories. As with similar films, I must say that here, too, there is a lack of a screenplay that could integrate the hits into a compelling story and narrative. It's more like one lengthy music video made as a tribute to the famous band, riding the wave of Beatlemania. The producer and director simply figured that they were guaranteed to make a profit on this project, and the guys from the band wanted to connect with their fans in a different way than through concerts and sound recordings. There's nothing to object to regarding the songs because The Beatles are charismatic even on the movie screen, so in the end, my overall impression is 60%.

I only have those songs so deep inside me that it would be enough for me to rate this movie 100%, but there is also the fact that in this movie you can really see how much everyone enjoyed it, but also how they tried to captivate and entertain the audience. It's a day in the life of an amazing group, but above all, it's a fun day where something is constantly happening and it's wonderfully absurd at times.

Although I still prefer the later, hairier, beardier, more imaginative (and researched) Beatles, I simply love A Hard Day's Night. The creators of this film probably had no higher goal than to simply film the band, have fun with it, and then maybe also entertain others, but it is all the better that they succeeded in the end.
