Batman (Robert Pattinson) már két éve rója Gotham City utcáit, és üldözi a város gonosztevőit – így hát egyre mélyebbre merül a sikátorok sötétségébe. Már alig néhány emberben bízhat: mindenfelől korrupt hivatalnokok és romlott nagymenők veszik körül. csupán Alfred Pennyworthszel (Andy Serkis) és Jame Gordon hadnaggyal (Jeffrey Wright) oszthatja meg a titkait. Egyedül maradt: rajta kívül nincs más, aki bosszút állhatna a város lakóinak sérelmeiért. Egy gyilkos épp Gotham elitjét veszi célba, és a szadista machinációi után hátrahagyott titokzatos nyomok a világ legnagyobb detektívjét a város alvilágába vezetik. Ott találkozik Selina Kyle-lal, vagyis Macskanővel (Zoë Kravitz), Oswald Cobblepottal, a Pingvinnel (Colin Farrell), Carmine Falcone-nal (John Turturro) és Edward Nashtonnal, Rébusszal (Paul Dano). A bizonyítékok azonban a saját otthona felé vezetik, és minél jobban szűkül a gyanúsítottak köre, annál félelmetesebbé válik. Batmannek új szövetségeket kell kötnie, le kell lepleznie az igazi bűnöst, és meg kell szabadítania Gothamet a hatalmaskodás és a korrupció pestisétől. (InterCom)
