Jodhaa Akbar is first and foremost a wonderful fairy tale. It doesn't matter that much that we are firmly anchored in the mid-16th century and the introduction and ending provide a brief historical overview. The way in which the story of Empress Jodhaa and her counterpart Akbar is told corresponds subconsciously to the most established norm of the oriental tale. Even the princess has certain conditions that need to be fulfilled before the wedding, and after it she continues with similar tasks before she completely submits to her emperor..
