Necrotongue

I would probably describe the first season as weird. About halfway through, I was convinced that I would give a “Boo!” rating to the rest of the episodes, too, but either the second half was better, or it seemed to me that way because I got numb. If the authors’ intention was for me to root for Mary, they didn’t succeed. Despite all the talk about reducing suffering and about people’s freedom to make their own decisions, you could hear the rustling of those thousands of Canadian dollar bills way too often.

While the plot in the final episode still felt a bit contrived, it didn't quite reach the same level of ridiculousness as it did in the second and third episodes. Surprisingly, I found myself cautiously satisfied by the end of the first season, even though I was originally bracing for disappointment.

The fifth episode was a step up — it wasn't mind-blowing, but it was definitely the best one yet. And hey, for the first time, it actually felt like I was watching a drama, despite some awkward acting moments.

You know what? I'm still on the hunt for that drama. And call me crazy, but I can't shake the feeling that either the scriptwriter was on something or there's some kind of alternate reality where the rules are different, because Ben Wesley's actions just don't add up. But I guess I'm starting to get used it.

Well, it seems like the creators are on a mission to outdo themselves with each new episode, and boy, are they succeeding! It's getting increasingly absurd. The only ones who are not after Mary at this point are the firefighters. And as for Mary's next move, who knows what she won't be able to hide from her daughters - perhaps a video with euthanasia or some spicy stuff with Ben? The anticipation is killing me!

Wow, the characters in this episode were even more outlandish than in the pilot! It's like they all collectively decided to crank up the absurdity dial. And don't even get me started on the questionable decisions they make. While I'm all for discussing important topics like assisted suicide, the way it's portrayed here left me scratching my head. And Ben's sudden visit to Mary? It's almost like even the writer was surprised by that plot twist.

Well, I went into the first episode expecting some solid drama, but what I got was more like a bizarre comedy. Seriously, both of those "facilitators" were way off the mark, and don't even get me started on the police. It was like everyone in the episode collectively decided to throw normal behavior out the window!

I'm usually apprehensive about movies and series based on my favorite books, but this one was a nice surprise. Although the creators obviously didn’t follow the original to the letter, I didn't mind because I got a very well-filmed anti-war series with decent acting performances and a great combination of humor and drama. So, instead of the expected disappointment, I had a great time.

The series wrapped up with a solid finale in the last episode. They balanced humor with drama and a touch of depressing atmosphere just right. The tone kept shifting, mixing moments of cheerfulness with seriousness seamlessly, and overall, it left a really good impression on me.

The fifth episode was a standout for me. The debate about suitable punishment had me hooked from the start, and the nighttime raid by German bombers over the "green zone" was spot on. Plus, the introduction of General Scheisskopf hints at even more absurdity to come, and I'm here for it.
