I liked Hard Candy, but 30 Days of Night almost took my breath away. Why almost? Because the ending was not very believable and the last scene doesn’t fit the film at all. But I have no complaints about the first half: perfect atmosphere, terrifying vampires, effective jump-scares, sharp axe… One of the best horror films of the year and a well deserved 85%.

A film with an effective atmosphere, but a little boring at the beginning. The Last Winter has a couple of superb scenes, with the plane crash being the best. Those weird agents of evil, on the other hand, should have remained hidden. A comparison could be made with The Thing, but that one is far better because it never gets boring and its atmosphere is a lot more terrifying.

I can’t believe my own eyes! I admire the people who had the courage to write and film this bullshit. The film suffers from an unnecessarily long dull intro and an incredibly dumb ending, only the middle 30 minutes or so where watchable, there’s action and it’s fun (and I even considered three stars). But that ending is so stupid that I haven’t been able to recover from it yet.

A terrible vampire movie without a hint of tension or atmosphere. The opening scene gave some hope that the film would be at least average, but what follows it is just garbage. Better watch 30 Days of Night.

After Wolf Creek, this is my second encounter with Australian hixploitation (at least off the top of my head), and it turned out better than expected. It follows a pretty well trodden path, the only minor surprise is the proportion of casualties between the good and the evil characters – a small dose of originality never hurts. The yokels look very nasty, the fear for the fate of the heroes pulls you into the action and you want them to take proper revenge on those redneck assholes. At times it’s pretty bloody – there’s one scene that was almost unpleasant (you’ll know when you see it…), and the atmosphere is effective, too. Storm Warning is something I must recommend to horror fans, it’s the best hixploitation film in recent years. 90%

A ghost in a hospital, a ghost in a room, a ghost in the streets, a ghost in a corridor, a ghost on a lift, and so on, and so on – that’s the entire first half of the film. And then the heroine sets out on a journey in search of the truth.

I don’t get it, 58% on Filmbooster, but I think it’s comparable to the excellent first part.

I’m very surprised at the fairly low rating. I think it’s one of the best old Czech comedies.

My apologies to everyone, but I can’t help it. I liked it when I was little, but now I find it unbearable.

No, I’ve never liked this film, but I can’t tell you why. And I’m also not a fan of the theme song. 40% in honour of the director and the actors.
