Min Gi-heon is an ex-intelligence agent, and Seo Bok is the first human clone, created through stem cell cloning and genetic engineering. He possesses the secret to eternal life. This Korean reinterpretation of the Chinese story of Xu Fu has it all: a character created by a complicated and dubious medical process, the former agent who now lives on the margins of society, loyalty and friendship, and, of course, a lot of spectacular action. The opposing characters - one with very little life left, the other with an eternity before him - enable first time director Lee Yong-ju to ask questions about mortality and family, while corporate greed and opportunism provide a second plot. All this wrapped inside a slick action thriller that brings together two of the most popular young Korean stars. (Imagine Film Festival)

A Korean sci-fi smash hit with two acting aces! Yoo Gong (Train to Busan) is an agent with the task of safely transporting Park bo Gum, who is an artificially created clone with the ability of telekinesis. The Americans have a grudge against him and that makes the mission a bit more dangerous than it initially seemed. Beautifully shot, smart with interesting philosophical reflections, strong emotions, ominous music, and excellent action. The highway shootout is reminiscent of Sicario, it was quite brutal and intense, and I also enjoyed the play with telekinesis (I liked seeing a guy being smashed into the ground, splitting the concrete). There were also a few short and fast fights, and the finale is quite grand, although I honestly expected a bit more courage there, but it was decent. There aren't many films about clones with telekinesis, so I'm glad for this addition, even though I could imagine it being even more action-packed and wild, but they tried to appeal to more than just action fans. I’m hesitate with the rating, but thanks to the generous running time of only 90 minutes and the fresh subject of clones, I will give it a slight boost. 7/10.
