angol The following text is a translation from Czech to English with HTML tags preserved: As slaves faithfully dedicated to the theatrical script, both in form and content.. Tylo's patriotic spirit perfectly matched the communist nationalism of the 1950s, and thus the film had priority both in material selection (one of the first color films in our country) and in casting. The main character played by J Mixa is unremarkable, but the supporting characters are portrayed by leading actors of the time, especially Hrušínský, who is excellent in his negative role of Vocilka. This piece doesn't offer much to today's viewers, primarily due to the absence of humor and exaggeration typical of successful classic fairy tale films. The movie simply lacks wit and poetry, a true fairy tale atmosphere. Now it is only a respectfully processed classic and a testament to the thinking of the time. Perhaps the famous scene with the floating ghosts under the gallows will remain in memory. Overall impression: 50%. ()
