I know that I'm risking damnation, but I can't help but say that this was a damn good Russian film. I don't think I'll be getting rid of the unpleasant feelings this drama evoked in me any time soon. I was made to watch the gradual degeneration and destruction of human pride, honor, and self-respect, and it was delivered in such a way that it made my brain throw up a couple of times. Yeah, I still remember the school days when someone did something bad and the teacher made it clear to everyone that if the one who did it didn't confess, the whole class would be punished. So, I could totally relate to the voting in this film. But it wasn't just the details. The whole film had a perfectly grim, socialist atmosphere and asked essential questions such as "What’s more important – human life or the truth?" Yes, subversive elements could infiltrate even Soviet universities. / Lesson learned: Keep your mouth shut and keep up. It was true under socialism, and it is still true today, only overseen by comrades from Brussels.
