A quintessential Gen Y story, Submerge explores the underlying sense of entitlement of a generation that pushes young adults to believe they can have it all, despite a plethora of competing demands from social media, family, and peers. For Jordan (Lily Hall), university life brings the promise of new experiences and a chance to break away from the grind of pursuing a career as an elite athlete, a path chosen for her at a young age by her parents. Through her newly discovered passions – the study of history and her academic tutor (Christina Hallett)-, Jordan is emboldened by the idea of not only controlling her future, but obtaining everything she desires. A raft of setbacks, coupled with a chance meeting with an intriguing nightclub owner (Georgia Bolton), propels Jordan into a subculture of fetish and anonymous sex. In trying to obtain everything will Jordan be left with nothing? (Madrid International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival)
