Juan Sayago returns to his hometown after 18 years of being in prison accused of killing Raul Trueba. Juan wants to live peacefully, but is told by Diego, his friend's son, that Julian and Pedro, Raul's sons, want to seek revenge. Not knowing he is Juan, Pedro befriends him. Juan visits widow Mariana, who lives in a big house with her little son Claudio. Everyone advice Juan he better leave town, and his friend, the sheriff, makes him sleep in a cell to protect him. Although the film is quite naive and takes itself too seriously, which ultimately leads to it being slightly ridiculous, I think it can easily bear comparison with what was being made in America in the 1950s and indeed the 1960s. Even during that time there were too many westerns that were forgotten. However, this Mexican film definitely has its own black and white charm.
