angol The Mexican movie Mark of the Devil shows that Netflix gives opportunities to anyone with a project that is even remotely interesting. However, it can still end up being something completely we have seen before that is hardly impressive. This movie was filmed in a country with a lot to say in terms of faith. There was some wasted potential, and the movie could have easily had a shorter running time. ()

angol The opening had me quite hooked – a Lovecraft quote as a motto, then an exorcism scene almost straight out of The Exorcist, then the Necronomicon and Cthulhu... But then it went wrong. It went horribly wrong. First into an unintentional parody and then, in the end, just plain and simple stupid crap. Shame. ()

angol This Mexican film is simply put a failure. The reference in the beginning roused my hopes – I thought that it might be a piece of crap, but with certain style. But it’s just a piece of crap. There’s that Lovecraft reference in the introduction, followed by a bunch of stupid actors, then there’s a discussion over Necronomicon, which unleashes the Cthulhu cult. I was so excited! But unfortunately what followed looked like it used a ten-year old boy’s school essay for its script. I don’t know what the Mexicans were thinking – the pathetic story had nothing in the sense of either meaning, logic or entertainment. If nothing else, it could have been fun, but the Mexicans unfortunately tried to keep things serious to the last breath. ()
