angol The Fear Street trilogy made me expect a trio of diverse films that would approach the slasher subgenre in different ways determined by their time period. 1994 was supposed to be in the vein of Scream with fun 90s fanboy winks, 1978 could have been a camp slasher renaissance along the lines of The Burning or Friday the 13th, and I imagined 1666 as gritty period horror with an atmosphere reminiscent of The VVitch. Yeah, I know, it was naive. All in all, they are your typical unpretentious Netflix genre films adapted to modern times and a young audience, where the style of each episode does not differ much from each other; it's the same thing over and over again, the characters behave the same way, it has the same easygoing style. In the end, a missed opportunity to bring something really special, but probably still worth sacrificing three evenings for. 1978 > 1666 > 1994. In my opinion the weakest episode, but it's not bad as a start. ()

angol A summer Netflix event, a slasher renaissance and a decent one at that! I think the next two episodes will be better, but I enjoyed this one. Fear Street is an honest to goodness slasher flick with all the attributes of the subgenre, plus a little something extra. As fan slashers (which by the way is already considered a dying subgenre), I really enjoyed the first episode and the whole trilogy already has cult-classic potential. It evokes a lot of Friday the 13th and especially Scream, the first part is probably the closest to that. There's a likeable group of teenagers (the young black geek is great), classic horror references (Jaws, Poltergeist, Dawn of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead), a great villain (the mask, the gun, the urban legend), a fine and stylish soundtrack, and enough body-count and gore (although I could imagine it being even more substantial). It's got good craftsmanship, nice colourful visuals, playful ideas, and an imaginative finale. It doesn't look downright silly, it has its own style and the witches touch was very nice. I liked the introduction of the killers from each decade a lot, that was cool!. The finale is cleverly put together, and I enjoyed the first episode without a problem. Maybe on the humour side could have been better, there is a lack of downright memorable lines, and also a lack of boobs (but they didn't have any to show properly, so I hope the makers are saving that for later), but otherwise I’m happy, I can't think of a better representative in years. Story 4/5, Action 4/5, Humor 3/5, Violence 4/5, Fun 4/5 Music 5/5, Visuals 4/5, Atmosphere 4/5, Suspense 4/5 7.5/10. ()

angol In the 1990s, the books of R. L. Stine were the perfect choice for every teenager. They were published successively in various editions of "Silent Night", "Point Horror," or "Goosebumps", and today their popularity has faded, but the memories remain. His Shadyside Fear Street series was dominated by "Point Horror" for many years. It was always a safe bet, a mix of American high school horror with authentic characters that commanded respect, especially from younger readers. And while Netflix hasn't managed the faithful adaptation of the Betrayal-Mystery-Fire trilogy that I was hoping for, they offered much more in this film trilogy. A comprehensive tribute to the best themes from Fear Street in a new story. All the clichés work, the teens are written brilliantly, and the different eras respond beautifully to the trends of the time. The year 1994 surprises with a great drama between Shadyside and rival Sunnyvale. Everything is progressing in the style of the Scream pentalogy. ()

angol A slasher in the classic style, that quotes (above all) Scream and similar films in a big way, does it in a beautiful coat and at the same time with exaggeration and surprisingly (for me), brutally... It is also fun, thanks to the actors and their great characters, who behave as logically as the genre allows. There is something missing from it to achieve perfection, which we will probably see next time or later, but I am still very satisfied. ()
