After refusing to obey a senior surgeon, JOHN LAKE, an American volunteer doctor in Laos, is instructed to take a leave of absence. To regroup, he travels to a remote island in the south of Laos. The solace of the island is shattered when John intervenes in the sexual assault of a young Laotian woman, accidentally killing her assailant. Horrified by the violence and the prospect of being sent to prison, John panics and flees. He soon discovers that he's wanted not only for the murder of an Australian Senator's son, but also for the rape of the very woman he saved. Tökéletes "túlélő" menet egy rémült, jószívű ember belső érzésein keresztül, aki elkövetett egy átkozottul nagy hibát, és meg akarja menteni magát. Realisztikus, érzelmes, átgondolt, folyamatosan feszültséggel teli. Rossif Sutherland pedig zseniálisan játszik, és megállás nélkül a kamera előtt áll. A befejezést lehetett volna jobban, komorabban és pszichológiai szempontból is másként megoldani, de így is egy remek film.

I can't help it, but this film seemed to me like something that has the potential to be a proper thriller, but in the end, it's just a personal drama with unbelievably slow pace that I found repulsive. The setting is interesting, but only used as a backdrop and for comprehension issues. In my opinion, this film doesn't offer anything great.
