A Thousand Miles Behind

After losing his wife and daughter in a terrible accident, Preston Avery finds himself suddenly trapped in grief and isolated in an empty house with nothing but the ghosts of his previous life to haunt him. As the days bleed together and the walls of the house slowly close in around him, all hope seems to be lost until a motorcycle mysteriously appears one morning on his doorstep. Unable to exist in his present state a minute longer, Preston turns to the motorcycle in a final act of desperation and sets out on his own to wander the highways and bi-ways of the backcountry as he makes his way across California. Along the road, Preston eventually meets a young woman who is finally able to break through his fog of grief just long enough to throw him a lifeline back into the land of the living. Although Preston's journey is at times very dark, A Thousand Miles Behind is ultimately a beautiful and poignant story of hope.
