Nona. Si me mojan, yo los quemo

The 65-year-old Nona learns to make Molotov cocktails to get revenge from their former lover. After the arson attack, Nona is forced to flee from Santiago. Suddenly, mysterious fires begin popping up across the countryside outside the city, but Nona’s role in the events is not completely clear. Camila José Donoso directs the fascinating story with a unique, cut-up visual style that partially reminds one of Verano, another modern masterpiece from Chile. Sometimes fragments of both past and present are shown in close proximity, or an identical dialog is repeated twice with different images. The title role is inspired by the director’s own grandmother. (Göteborg Film Festival)
