From director Todd Douglas Miller comes a cinematic event fifty years in the making. Crafted from a newly discovered trove of 65mm footage, and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings, Apollo 11 takes us straight to the heart of NASA’s most celebrated mission - the one that first put men on the moon, and forever made Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into household names. Immersed in the perspectives of the astronauts, the team in Mission Control, and the millions of spectators on the ground, we vividly experience those momentous days and hours in 1969 when humankind took a giant leap into the future. angol The gauntlet is thrown down to all those stupid conspiracy theorists who think the moon landing was fake and that it was all filmed in a studio. A superb atmospheric thing, perfectly restored to hold the attention of even the modern viewer focused on image quality, while masterfully working with period footage and all the necessary props to show "the real thing" with maximum authenticity. angol Fantastic, I wished the documentary had never ended or had lasted at least 200 hours – that's how amazing the footage is, so wonderfully put together. If only I had seen it on TV and not in the cinema, I probably would have been similarly thrilled, though perhaps the chills I felt at the Saturn V launch might not have been quite so much. Perhaps. angol A refreshing behind-the-scenes look into the most famous space mission that relies only on depersonalised facts and a narration through authentic audio and video recordings. Though the unemotional approach might not be very attractive for those uninterested, this is still a very valuable documentary from a point of view different than what we are used to in similar projects.
