Daniel, a repülőgép-pilóta feleségül akarja venni szerelmét Helent. Mielőtt azonban ezt megtehetné barátnőjét elgázolja egy autó. A kómába esett nőről az orvosok teljesen lemondanak. A kétségbeesett Daniel ezért úgy dönt, hogy részt vesz barátja kísérletében, és hibernáltatja magát míg szerelme fel nem ébred. A háború előtti kísérletbe azonban valami hiba csúszik, így amikor Daniel visszatér az élők közé már 1992-őt írnak a naptárak.
