Summer of 1945. Eight children recently liberated from the Gross-Rosen concentration camp in Poland are left in an abandoned villa, deep in the forest, without food or water. After the atrocities of the camp, the children slowly begin to regain what is left of their childhood. But when a pack of starving dogs besiege the house, the terrified children must again depend on their primal survival instincts if they are going to survive the night. Inspired by real-life, historical events, writer and director Adrian Panek turns the nightmare of the Holocaust into literal monsters. One-part survival horror, one-part wartime thriller with a dash of coming-of-age drama, Werewolf is an unconventional, yet beautifully haunting contemporary dark fable. (Eureka Entertainment)

angol A Polish post-war horror film about eight children liberated from a concentration camp who find themselves living in an abandoned orphanage and not only have nothing to eat, but also have to fight against German shepherds. A promising concept and nicely filmed, but unfortunately I was hardly entertained at all. The dog attack is not badly filmed and there was a bit of blood, but I found it rather tepid, lacking in pace and atmosphere, and the brutality could definitely have been stepped up a notch. I expected more, the Poles can do better. But those who don't have anything to bite into can give it a try. 4/10. ()

angol The Polish-German-Dutch movie Werewolf is an example of how it is better to classify movies appropriately. After all, one may have slightly different expectations than what one gets, although I did not find it to be a movie that necessarily needed World War Two to make it deeper and more meaningful. ()
