Az Arab Tavasz idején a tunéziai Nazir és a terhes, holland felesége menekülni kényszerülnek az országból. Hollandia azonban elutasítja, hogy befogadja Nazirt, így Kimmy kénytelen egyedül menni. Nazir azonban szeretné látni a gyermeke születését, ezért a Földközi-tengeren keresztül próbál bejutni az Európai Unió területére. Ám ahogy partot ér Lampedusa szigetén, őrizetbe veszik illegális bevándorlóként. Amikor Kimmy mindezt megtudja, Olaszországba indul, hogy kihozza Nazirt az őrizetből. (Cinemax)

Since by coincidence, I’ve seen a film similar to this one – Charmer – right before watching Rafael, I suspected from the start the Tunisian only got together with the girl to be able to leave Tunisia. This was enhanced by the Arab Spring background, and the at times crazy naivety of the Western world didn’t help matters. During the movie, however, I abandoned my hypothesis and got pulled into the story. It’s not exactly a happy one, but in this day and age it’s ideal for being turned into a movie and showing the African refugees in a slightly different light.
