Film a 60-as évek elejének portugál nagyvárosi és tengerentúli társadalmáról, amely egy fiatal mozambiki futballista, Eusébio történetét meséli el, aki hazája, a Sporting Clube Lourenço Marques csapatától a portugál rivális Benfica csapatához igazol. Zsarolás, emberrablási kísérlet, miniszterek közbelépése, szenzációs újságcikkek, milliós ígéretek – a futballista átigazolásából egy két kontinensen zajló szövevényes történet bontakozik ki. The Portuguese bit off more than they could chew here. They decided to show us the rise of the Mozambican black pearl – the soccer legend Eusébio. The problem, however, lies in the totally boring screenplay. The Portuguese conceived this film as an intimate drama so don’t expect anything spectacular. They could have saved it with dialogues, but those unfortunately seem like those of two hustlers squabbling in some back alley. A real pity.
