“Last in money, first in heart”, Unión Club Ceares’ motto. The modern history of this club from Gijón, founded 71 years ago and touching the ceiling in Tercera División (Third Division), exemplifies the perfect resistance of a football completely opposed to mercantilism. It is only logical that this documentary from Rafa de los Arcos is not told with sport scenes but with the day to day basis of a group of friends that on their free time, and selflessly, fight without pause for the survival of their humble club in meetings and debates. El equipo de mi barrio transcends the football tale to become a demand of the community sentiment and the necessity of self-management, with the Campo de la Cruz as the key stage in the social life of a workers’ neighbourhood.
