Bai ri gaobie

A film about the hundred-day mourning period that a man and a woman who have lost their loved ones must go through. Wei and Ming lose their life partners in traffic accidents on the same day, and they are devastated. Wei loses his wife who's expecting a baby in three months, and Ming loses her fiancé when their wedding is only three months away. In order to bid farewell to their loved ones, the two must make funeral preparations but doing so means they're unable to even properly grieve. When some friends of the deceased wallow in sadness or when the family of the deceased blames the survivors, we can witness firsthand the egoistical nature of human beings. Wei meets his wife's students, and Ming goes on the pre-arranged honeymoon trip. The two have never met each other and will never meet, but they are in a same situation and their grief is all the same. The film takes turns to follow these two very closely, and their journey toward their final farewells becomes incredibly tense and heartwrenching. (Busan International Film Festival)
