Tikkun

A fascinating, slow-burn of a film, Tikkun depicts the gradual untethering of a young ultra-Orthodox scholar in Jerusalem. Haim-Aaron is painfully shy, obsessive in his faith, and utterly disconnected from his body. But after a terrifying near-death experience, Haim-Aaron starts to change. The mysteries of his suddenly reprieved body and soul express themselves in surreal ways that confound him and upset his father, who fears God's will was obstructed when his son survived.
