Cat Skin

Cat, a young lesbian photographer, much prefers the company of her feline friend to her fellow students. Between dealing with the burden of a sick parent at home and homophobia running rampant at school, the artistic and shy loner lives her life behind the safety of her camera lens. And that lens is focused on April, a lovely and popular music student with a tumultuous home life and a boyfriend who objectifies her. After April finds her way to Cat's dark room and sees that she's been the main subject of her photography, what should have been an awkward encounter turns into an unlikely friendship. They bond as April tries to stand up to Cat's bullies, which sometimes includes April's own hotheaded boyfriend, Steven. Though April's shaky relationship with her disapproving mother threatens to tear their friendship apart, it still begins to evolve into something deeper as they learn to trust each other and themselves. But once Steven realizes that romance is blooming between April and Cat, his pride makes him a danger to them both as he refuses to leave the picture. (Chicago Reeling Film Fest)
