Marriage as an institution that demanded too much of loyalty and by the time Javed, the biggest Bangladeshi cultural icon, was in his fifties, he found himself infatuated with Nitu, his beloved daughter Saberi's friend, who always had the best of friendship and a sort of competition with his daughter. Javeed finally divorces his wife Maya and marries Nitu. Initially, Saberi finds it difficult to face in a tabooed society but soon she regroups herself and pushes her mother to explore the grace of independence. In desperation, together they find strength. Meanwhile, Nitu also finds it is no bed of roses; as she receives the wrath of a misogynist society, for breaking the national standards of ethical conduct. Throughout the film we keep seeing the death of love in life and at the end love sprouts again, this time, in death. (Moscow International Film Festival)
