Šúmacu nani šitemasu ka? Isogašii desu ka? Sukutte moratte ii desu ka?

WorldEnd is a bittersweet story that was more or less to my taste. The last time I had similar mixed feelings and such an interesting experience was when I watched Black Bullet, which similarly crushed me with its combination of incredible cuteness and enjoyable moments, and how it managed to juxtapose that with tragedy and sadness. Although I felt Black Bullet was much more dramatic, and every loss hit me pretty hard - I felt moved much more. On the other hand, knowing where this was heading thanks to the first few minutes, I had a certain very bad feeling, even during the most pleasant moments. This anime series seems to know how to play on the moods and emotions of weaker individuals (like me). Now you are able to fall in love with the main characters, get drunk on the cuteness of the supporting characters, and just quietly wait and watch for any hint of when things start to go wrong. On the other hand, I was expecting the conclusion to break me a lot more; I was expecting a flood of tears, although the show did not manage to do that in the end. I am not extremely upset with the conclusion (it was not bad at all); it was just too predictable, it tried to push me as hard as it could, even though because I had been prepared for something like this since the first episode, it just did not have much impact. Still, it was a very nice show, I liked the characters very much, and if there is ever a sequel, I will be sure to give it a go. 8/10. (2017.06.28)
