Tracing thirty years in the life of a British family, this is the story of a couple whose love faces the events of the turn of the twentieth century. Perhaps if I had seen this movie at the time of its release, it would have impressed me, but as it is, it's just a classic film for me about how one family lived, what happened to them, and how historical events affected them. It's not bad, it's just not exceptional in that regard, though it's a fact that the scene on the boat gave me chills.
