BRIDGEND follows Sara and her dad, Dave as they move to a small village in Bridgend County, which is haunted by suicides amongst its young inhabitants. Sara falls dangerously in love with one of the teenagers, Jamie, while Dave, as the town's new police officer, tries to stop the mysterious chain of suicides. The film focuses on the relationship between vulnerable teenagers and their parents who are left in the dark as the inexplicable suicides gradually take on the character of a punishing ritual. The story of the film is based on a mysterious suicide cluster that took place in Bridgend County, a small former coal-mining province in Wales. Between 2007 and 2012 seventy-nine suicides were committed in the area, and most of the victims were teenagers. (Cinemax)

angol The first half unsatisfactory, the second downright agonizing and offensive. Incredibly amateur directing, nonsensical screenplay, a festival of screaming and hysteria. It's really not even a film - it's randomly patchwork formal mimicry. I wouldn't be surprised if the number of suicides in Bridgend went up again after the premiere of the film. I wanted to hang myself during the last 20 minutes. #kviff ()

angol The description and synopsis really enticed me to watch what they promised was a good Nordic drama flick. However, already as I was watching the film, I felt as if some Danish guy had felt like making a proper and depressing Scandinavian drama but had forgotten to include in it everything that makes these movies so unique. I didn’t like the fact that they were speaking English, the nonsensical bits in the screenplay were striking and the only thing that tended to have any kind of value was the cinematography. ()

angol Such a film, which has an interesting story based on real events, but it tries so hard to get into festivals that it's not interesting at all for the audience. Meanwhile, it tells the story of how in Denmark, in a relatively short period of time (about 6 years), in just one region, there was a high number of suicides among young people. However, the film is incredibly boring. ()

angol (50th KVIFF) A true festival hell! And I was looking forward to this film. I believe I’m open enough to mysterious movies with ambiguous outcomes, but here there’s nothing. Just an incredibly annoying leading character who deserves to be slapped, but instead, her father apologises for daring to raise his voice to her. The suicide epidemic didn’t cause any interest or curiosity, even though it’s a topic that on paper drew my attention. This film was almost a religious experience – by the end I was praying for it to finish already. 20 % ()
