I couldn't help but feel the whole time that Robert Duvall wrote a screenplay that closely resembled the film The Judge, then directed it himself, and to top it off, even jumped into the lead role. True, he's not as gruff, and it can't be denied that he once again delivers a great performance, but the story just didn't grab me. Yet it had the potential to. But once again, the calm, moderate pace won out.
