Even in the wealthy Netherlands, many families live below the poverty level. But 12-year-old Nicky knows that with a minimum amount of money you can retain your pride. Her parents are out of work and cannot buy what she wants. But she is happy with second-hand clothes and a cheap mobile phone. Every week she and her brother unashamedly go to food banks. She gives her belongings to even poorer children and, with this proactive approach, gains the respect of all who would ridicule her. (One World)
