In 1966, four young French-speaking Swiss filmmakers, Yves Yersin, Francis Reusser, Claude Champion and Jacques Sandoz, met with critic and producer Freddy Landry to work on a feature film made up of four individual shorts, with shared financing and materials. The idea was to tell the story of four women, aged 16, 22, 31 and 72: Sylvie, Patricia, Erika and Angèle. This bold project, which blends fiction and documentary, had a complex two-year development process, which culminated in the selection of Yves Yersin’s episode at the Semaine de la Critique in Cannes in 1968.
