How He Fell in Love

Travis is a bit of a lost soul. He's a musician who can't find inspiration, and his relationships with women aren't going well. HOW HE FELL IN LOVE begins with him attending the wedding of his ex-girlfriend - a torturous and very unwise decision, to say the least. There, he meets Ellen, a married yoga instructor. When the two share a cab ride home, they engage in friendly conversation and exchange contact information. At the time, the interaction seems rather innocent and unremarkable. Days later, frustrated with his girlfriend, he stops by Ellen's studio for some much needed meditation. Eventually, things turn sexual between them. With her husband out of town, the two begin a steamy affair that progresses into something more emotional. Travis is completely enamored by her, swiftly falling in love. For Ellen, the situation is more complicated. She still values her marriage and isn't willing to end it. All of that could change, though, when her husband finally uncovers the truth. Director Marc Meyers does a fantastic job keeping things gritty and natural, exploring forbidden love and its bitter consequences. (Cleveland International Film Festival)
