angol If the series of films about the seventh regiment can be said to have aged gracefully and can be watched without any major problems even today, this film was an unpleasant surprise for me. The ravages of time took their toll and revealed that my former taste amounted to all sorts of things. There are many really good gags, but countless dead spots as well. The exposed breasts of French beauties and sexist humor were supposed to evoke smiles on our faces, but this seems somewhat barren to me in adulthood and in this day and age. The subject matter is fine, but the dialogue and screenplay ideas should have a different form. Even the second star I'm giving it isn't all that strong. Overall impression: 35%. ()

angol With the number of good to great comedies he made, Jean Girault was entitled to a few weaker bits. This is one of them. Le mille-pattes fait des claquettes is actually a mix of The Seventh Company Has Been Found, Don't Look Now: We're Being Shot At and Rookies Run Amok 2, but sadly falls short of the fun of any of those films. I had hoped for more from it - perhaps the use of the title slogan could have been greater, I expected to find out what it was used for. And it didn't. I was most pleased to see Michel Galabru (who sadly died today) in a small but amusing role: "The gentlemen of the staff were kind enough to requisition my residence last night." ()
