He wanted to be a gangster, so he did everything he could to be one. Or he simply wormed his way into being known, then tried out what it's like to rob someone. And it worked for a while. If it wasn't for Patricia Arquette, I wouldn't even enjoy watching it. The main "hero" is such a bland character that I didn't even want to look at him, and I hoped he would end up sooner the way he eventually did.
