Eighteen-year-old Zhao Bowen leads an expert team investigating the relationship of intelligence and DNA. "Wouldn't you want to choose how smart your child will be?" he asks enthusiastically. Twenty-five-year-old Lin Lin produces pigs of all shapes and sizes in a cloning lab. "I feel like their mother," she says, watching the little pigs that "were conceived" under her microscope. Both work for the Chinese company BGI, the world leader in genetics research that takes advantage of lenient Chinese laws in the field of genetic engineering. The film follows their work in a futuristic lab while it raises important questions: Are geneticists shifting the boundaries of creation to the point of no return? (One World)
