This film features five stories of supernatural terror from four directors. A group of strangers are inexplicably gathered in an isolated country estate. Dreams and nightmares dominate the conversation, and each guest shares a frightening event from his or her past. Two of the stories stand out: a mirror with a horrifying story that shows you a different room when you look into it and a ventriloquist who goes mad when his dummy appears to come to life. I was probably most impressed by the story with the ventriloquist puppet, which is a bit tired now but could have had the right effect in its time. I think the creators knew well why they put it at the end. It really stands out there. It's like a cherry on an otherwise not very tasty cake, which is not offensive, but also doesn't have much to excite. "Ghosts of the Night" remain just one of many for me.
