Story of a girl, heavy metal and cows, Metalhead is a dramatic film, both tender and grim with moments of
rebellious comedy. It's a story of a terrible loss and how we deal with our griefs, about community and a sense of
family, dreams and nightmares. (forgalmazó hivatalos szövege)

angol Oddly enough, this film sat well with me. A pretty raw portrayal of a family torn apart by a life tragedy. The Scandinavians sure know how to shoot drama, it’s that harsh climate of theirs, I guess. On the one hand, I could totally relate to the protagonist/antagonist, on the other hand, she was really punch-worthy. The whole film had a perfect gloomy atmosphere, and it radiated a kind of quiet depression I really enjoyed. I would just skip the family dance scene, it felt out of place. ()

angol I still consider Icelandic movies the hidden gem of world cinematography. I await each new movie with excitement and I’m curious about what the Icelandic creators are going to come up with next. This movie gave me exactly what I wanted; drama about a girl who’s had her reasons to run away from everything towards metal, which gave her life meaning. And it’s at the time where black metal started to be really popular. It’s something unimaginable to a fragile little Icelandic soul who is searching for someone on an island with the population density of three inhabitantsper square kilometer and I’m not surprised that the movie goes to extremes. Gorgeous locations, a heavy yet a very personal story, a hidden carefreeness and existentialism is exactly what Metalhead is about and what’s so outstanding about Icelandic movies, and that’s exactly why I can’t praise this movie enough.
