Kull, az atlantiszi barbár a király testőre szeretne lenni, ám a sors más utat szán neki. A tébolyult király lemészárolja gyermekeit és rátámad Kullra is, aki megöli a királyt. A haldokló ember a barbárra hagyja koronáját. A csalódott örökösök között királynak lenni azonban annyi, mint kiülni a pokol tornácára.
