Augusto is an artistic wonder at a very young age, effortlessly capturing the faces and lives of a small Chilean town where his mom, young and single, rooted herself in when he was a baby. Set in the 1960’s, this film captures a politically difficult time for Chile through the innocence of a boy’s talent which ultimately marks his destiny. (Latido Films)

angol This was my first Spanish-speaking film telling a story from Chile. And it must be added that it was not bad at all. I found the nature of that nation very similar to the Czech one. Everyone sits in their pubs and empty beer bottles are littered everywhere, while people keep chatting about historical events and also about the fact that there is a little genius in the neighboring village. Those empty beer bottles weren’t lying only around the pub, but also just about everywhere else – in people’s houses, on the streets. At some moments, it was just too much for me and I had to open a beer myself. It was nice, and the short running time definitely helped in that respect. But the setting was also to the film’s advantage. ()
