(HBO Europe)

angol If I claimed that the short film "A Dream about a Clown" features motifs that were important to Pixar, then it applies doubly to the film "Tin Toy". Of course, because at first glance, it invites a comparison with "Toy Story". Of course, a toy is also the main character, but it's also about how toys are viewed here. John Lasseter must have a very special relationship with them, and I'm sure he is one of those people who don't forget about their toys. I will probably be one of them too. I still have my stuffed bear in bed, and I don't throw away toys, someone else has to do that for me, even when they are really broken. I like how toys are seen in the film "Tin Toy". Through the eyes of a child. Toys are meant to bring us joy, but they also have fears. They are also sad when we don't want to play with them. All of this is part of the short film "Tin Toy", which also has a horror sequence that can really send shivers down your spine, especially for children. The horror can also be attributed to how the child is rendered. It's not that great; it looks terribly artificial, like a doll, which only proves that animating a human character is indeed very complicated. On the other hand, these are still the beginnings of 3D animation (there are no shadows, the shapes are simplified), so it must be appreciated that the creators tackled such a complicated character as the toddler. What really takes the spotlight, though, is the story once again. And the toys. A single glance from the toys, a flicker of their eyes, evokes emotions in you that may not even be achieved by a feature film labeled as a drama. Another step forward for animation, as well as for animated films with a story. ()
