Liza, a fiatal holland nő Velencébe megy, hogy találkozzon az olasz apjával. A zenész Mauro három eves kora óta nem látta a lányát, amikor az anyja elvált tőle. Velencében Liza rájön, hogy ez az út többet jelent pár nap vakációnál. És ezzel kezdetét veszi egy zenei utazás az Orient Express útvonala mentén. A túra elviszi őket Szlovéniától kezdve Szerbián és Bulgárián át Törökországba. Sok kalandban lesz részük, és kiderül, hogy apa és lánya sokkal jobban hasonlítanak egymásra, mint azt gondolták. The Netherlands is a country with whose movies I tend to have problems. They can make really good movies, but they can also make really weird movies as well. This one offered an interesting road trip undertaken by a daughter with her father, whom she got to know only recently, and that was exactly why I’d been looking forward to this movie so much. What’s also interesting about this movie for instance is the fact that the literal translation of the title means “Meet Me in Venice”, but only about the first ten minutes of the movie actually take place in Venice. It then takes place in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and eventually in Turkey. The only Dutch thing about this film is that the daughter speaks Dutch to the camera every now and then. So the only problem I had was with the actors, who I found very annoying at the beginning, but after a while I got used to them and the entire trip around the Balkans all of a sudden got a whole new dimension for me.
