A közeljövőben a mutánsoknak nemcsak az emberekkel és az emberekben örök ellenséget látó mutánsokkal kell megküzdeniük, hanem egy új, legyőzhetetlennek bizonyuló ellenséggel is, akik elkezdték levadászni őket. A túlélésükért Magneto és Xavier szövetségre lép, és egy kísérleti technika segítségével visszaküldik Logan (Farkas) elméjét a múltba, fiatalabb testébe, a 80-as évekbe. Feladatának egyetlen célja: megtalálni és összefogni a két veterán ifjú énjét, hogy megváltoztassák a múltat és ezzel megakadályozzák a jövőben kitörni készülő háborút, miközben a többi X-ek ezzel párhuzamosan a maguk idősíkjában vívják meg harcukat a rájuk vadászó elemekkel.
