Egy baráti társaság a tökéletes nyaralás reményében egy távoli karibi szigetre hajózik, ám a legénybúcsú pillanatok alatt a legrosszabb rémálommá válik. Búvárkodás közben az egyikőjük elkap egy rejtélyes vírust. Két társuk segítséget keresve egy elhagyatottnak tűnő kutatóintézetbe botlik, de kiderül, hogy ott egy halálos, húsevő vírust hordozó beteget tartanak karanténban, aki miután több embert is megtámadt, elszabadult a vírus, ezért a kutatócsoport hanyat-homlok próbál menekülni a szigetről. Different from the previous two episodes, but I’m not complaining about that, I don’t care – actually, I’d consider a different approach to the template as a plus. What bothers me is that things become incredibly stupid after some time, especially considering how seriously the film takes itself. Patient Zero is relatively effective in some of the scenes (for instance, the underground sequence is nicely atmospheric, and the gore – for those who are into gore – is also good), but when you look at the bigger picture, it’s laughable, rather. Dime a dozen contagion horror, without any original ideas, which shouldn’t be a surprise coming from the director of the awful Altitude. And the one “memorable scene”, I’ve seen it somewhere, I think it was lifted from Excision. PS: I would give it two stars, but that’s what I gave the first one by Roth and this one is significantly worse.

"Cabin Fever" is not my favorite series and "Cabin Fever: Patient Zero" will not be my favorite movie, but there are things that I enjoyed about it. Besides the good and disgusting gore, there is, for example, the presence of Sean Astin, or quite interesting and functional changes in the environment. Compared to the second one, it felt very similar to me with bursts of a positive approach to the film. However, it still doesn't reach the average level.
