For aspiring dancers, the world of ballet is expensive, exclusive, strenuous and short. The feature documentary First Position captures a year in the lives of six young dancers from around the world as they train for one of the most prestigious ballet competitions in the world: The Youth America Grand Prix. In spite of injury, failure, prejudice, and poverty, these young dancers manage to remain inspired, and when the curtain finally rises, to inspire everyone else. (Zlín Film Festival)

A documentary about children striving to get into ballet school, preparing diligently for their chance to succeed. And then it only takes one mistake to make it fail. Or you show what you can do and win. On the one hand, I wonder if it's worth it to destroy yourself like that sometimes, but on the other hand, I admire those kids.
