What is absolutely essential for portraying madness in Don't Ring the Doorbell are the images presented to us, the camera movements, or the static shots of a particular place. The musical aspect is also subordinated to the overall tone, either completely absent or consisting of tribal music. All of this creates the impression that you are truly witnessing one form of madness. Narratively, it's absolutely about nothing. It is visually interesting, but definitely not a pinnacle of symbolic work. The film may not say anything to some, but it can strongly affect others with its depressiveness.
