Ausztrália az 1970-es évek elején. A Kelly-fivéreknek a hullámlovaglás a szenvedélye. Az anyjuk Sydneyből költözött a gyerekeivel az álmos kisvárosba, Margaret Riverbe, melynek tengerpartját a világ legveszélyesebb hullámai nyaldossák. Az ezt követő tizenkét évben a fiúk tökéletesítették a szörftudásukat. Jimmy tehetséges szörfös és újító, ám az élete kezd félrecsúszni. A helyzetet Andy oldja meg. I like movies with surfing in the leading role. I like the ease of this sport and the freedom, when wave after wave closes behind the surfer and so I liked those shots even in this movie. What was worse was that the movie is nothing original. The acting performances were standard. Every man there has long hair, drug problem and tries to be happy with what they do. How do you think a film like this will end? If not for the beautiful shots of waves, I would had rated it even lower.

Sam Worthington is obviously such a star that even with long hair and a beard, he could save me in a cheesy surfing movie. The guys have it tough because they come from a pretty normal family, but all they really want to do is surf, which is a big problem on the Australian coast because there are waves everywhere. However, there are some guys who are causing them trouble in their neighborhood. But that's okay because then the right wave comes and everything turns out fine. That's really cool...
