Beauty-school teacher Fran Drescher, basically reprising her television role in The Nanny, is whisked out of Queens and deposited in Eastern Europe after she is mistaken for a science teacher. Timothy Dalton is the gruff and stilted president for life she tames with mousse and kindness. Drescher, with that inimitable voice and colorful clothing, is very funny. It is not a far stretch to compare her favorably with Lucille Ball. The script, however, matches her bubbly humor with nothing but clunkiness. A mild diversion, this is one of many Hollywood comedies that works just fine on video. (forgalmazó hivatalos szövege)

angol The Nanny switched TV series for a movie and an American household for a presidential office of a fictional country in the Eastern Europe. Coincidentally, the Eastern European parts were shot in the Czech Republic, which, considering the time it was made in, did not surprise me. However, what did surprise me were some Czech newspapers, Czech presidents on the wall, Czech signs, or the Sychrov castle. Overall, watching it was pretty nice and as I also laughed a bit, I see no reason why I wouldn’t rate this otherwise hackneyed comedy with the average number of stars. And as everything is made up, they did not offend the Czechs with anything. For an American movie, that’s something. ()
